Unique Hand Embroidered Folk Art Sampler Wall Hanging: C1950 England

Many is the time that I have wished that textiles could talk, and this one does just that! It celebrates a loving family, shared holidays, treasured friends, significant dates and places.

It all makes a wonderful English Folk Art sampler, entirely hand embroidered with colorful stitched lettering, circular patterns, names, and family references in Dutch and English (including words like slagroom, brood en boter, gebak, and Haarlem.

Free-hand and colourful silk embroidery has been stitched onto a light-colored linen ground, with concentric circles, spiral lines, and radiating segments arranged like a personal map or memory wheel.

A touching and unique work of art/ family heirloom made to celebrate summertime 1950 which includes a mix of family names, food references, and a milestone inscription, "Mam is 70 ".
